Discovering The Fifth State of Matter, "City of the Dead" Tombs, and Plato's Grave.

Our world civilization is the steady accumulation of by-products from humanity’s length of existence worth of accumulative and collective search for the source code of the universe.

In order words, man's search for the truth is the main cause for human flourishing.

We rewarded Albert Einstein greatly for educating us on the rules of our universe, and we rewarded Thomas Edison greatly for exploiting these rules to give us all an advantage in life.

We have this innate ability in us to notice the pixel-perfect glitches in order to eek out an advantage, whether it’s in an online video game or in real life.

It never hurts you to follow the truth. It will lead you to flourishing.

What’s On The Menu?

  1. Fifth state of matter created by scientists.

  2. ‘City of the Dead’ tombs discovered in Egypt.

  3. “Rare Earth”-free magnets lower cost and reduce emissions by 70%.

  4. AI deciphers burnt scroll for location of Plato’s grave.

Scientists Create Fifth State of Matter.

TL;DR:

Researchers from Columbia University have created a new type of Bose-Einstein condensate, a quantum state of matter, using sodium and cesium atoms.

Initially theorized by Satyendra Nath Bose and Albert Einstein—hence the titular names—BEC is dipolar, meaning it has both positive and negative charges, and achieved at extremely low temperatures just above absolute zero.

The team used two microwave fields to create and control this exotic state of matter, which remained stable for two seconds.

So what…?

This breakthrough opens up possibilities for exploring new quantum states and phases of matter, with potential applications in quantum chemistry and the creation of exotic materials.

Archaeologists Uncover 'City of the Dead' With More Than 300 Tombs in Egypt.

TL;DR:

Scientists have discovered an ancient cemetery near Aswan, Egypt, containing over 300 tombs with mummies.

The site, dubbed the 'City of the Dead', dates back 4,500 years and was used for about 900 years.

Each tomb could hold 30-40 mummies, arranged by social class on terraces. In a rhyme that physically mimics the reality of the situation, people of higher social class would be buried towards the top of the hill, whereas the middle and lower classes would be towards the bottom.

Researchers are still investigating the lives of the people buried there.

Big whoop, and…?

Every day, scientific progress inches us further towards the grand truth of our humanity. It provides valuable insights into our ancient ways.

From burial practices and social structures, belief systems and their understanding of the experience in which all humans are fated since the birth of our existence, ultimately enhancing our understanding of what it is to be human.

AI Develops "Ground-Breaking" New Magnet Free Of Rare Earth Metals.

TL;DR:

An AI analyzed over 100 million potential alloys to find the perfect composition. And they indeed found one perfect alloy; one free of any rare Earth metals.

Researchers at Materials Nexus have used AI to develop a new permanent magnet called MagNex that requires only one fifth of the materials required from previous permanent magnets, along with a reduction in carbon emissions by 70%.

Who cares…?

Magnets are all around your life. They exist in every electronic device you own.

A breakthrough in the magnet industry means a big impact: from new applications, lower costs, inventive improvements, and more.

"Bionic Eye" Discovers Plato's Final Resting Place.

TL;DR:

Within the city of Athens exists a school led by a teacher whose punctilious thinking lasted eras, known as Plato’s Academy.

And within Plato’s Academy exists a private part of the garden near a shrine to the Muses, the resting place of the teacher Plato.

For two thousand years, the location of Plato’s grave was a mystery to the historians. Until we learned how to read the burnt scrolls.

In 79 AD, Mount Vesuvius erupted, burying Pompeii, Herculaneum, and other villages under the rain of fire and rock.

In the 1700s, archaeologists discovered nearly 2,000 papyrus scrolls from under the rumble, but too many of them were so fragile that it would be feckless to make an attempt to unravel and read.

It was now, with the help of AI, that we read the burnt scrolls.

Members of GreekSchools Project used a "bionic eye" combining AI and advanced scanning techniques to read these charred Herculaneum scrolls.

The recovered text also suggested Plato may have been sold into slavery earlier than previously thought.

The GreekSchools Project aims to decipher more scrolls by 2026.

Why does this matter…?

This breakthrough demonstrates how cutting-edge technology can unveil hidden historical information, potentially reshaping our understanding of ancient philosophy and culture.

That’s it for this week!
