Serving Beef-Rice with Chicken Eggs and a Side of Frostbite.
And some space stuff, too.
Imagine you’re on Mars.
You’ve been trained to live on the surface of the low gravity planet for years.
There’s been plenty of drone landings on Mars before humans so you know the landscape extensively.
You’ve got a bowl full of tasty beef-rice. You have the frostbite pills and various other first-aid treatments at base.
Humanity has just become an interplanetary species.
And the future looks exciting.
What’s On The Menu?
Chicken egg that’s 1700 years old found with liquid still inside.
American company lands on moon for first time in 52 years.
Rice with “beef” grown in a lab.
Frostbite pill approved by the FDA.
Martians wanted for a year long simulated exercise.
Technological Gratitude.

1,700-Year-Old Chicken Egg Unearthed Still Contains Liquid.

TL;DR:
A 1,700-year-old chicken egg found in England is the only one of its naturally preserved kind to still contain liquid.
The egg is believed to have been preserved accidentally and further scientific investigations using modern imaging techniques will aid in uncovering its secrets.
It is kept at the Discover Bucks Museum while a strategic plan to extract its contents without harming its shell awaits execution.
So what…?
This gives us a rare chance for archaeologists and researchers to learn about the preservation methods in Roman times.
It could also uncover unknown aspects of ancient biochemistry and animal history.
“the chicken or the egg problem has been solved, once and for all… or has it?“
Intuitive Machines Makes Landmark Private Lunar Landing with Odysseus.

TL;DR:
Houston-based Intuitive Machines made history on February 22 with Odysseus, the first private spacecraft, and the first U.S. vehicle since 1972, to soft-land on the moon.
Despite a tense descent and last-minute software patch for malfunctioning rangefinders, the spacecraft successfully touched down near the lunar south pole.
Over the next seven Earth days, Odysseus and its 12 payloads of NASA experiments and commercial add-ons are to function before succumbing to the cold lunar night.
Big whoop, and…?
Private companies will make the cost of going into space that much more cheaper.
Not only that, but with more players in the game, the amount of space discoveries made will be exponential.

Introducing Meat–Rice: Grain With Added Muscles Beefs Up Protein.

TL;DR:
A team of South Korean researchers has grown a unique blend of muscle and fat cells on rice, creating an edible food combo they call “beef-rice”.
The process uses lab-growing methods similar to other cultured meats and the result is rice with a marginally higher fat and protein content.
The researchers hope the invention will serve food-insecure communities and reduce environmental damage caused by conventional livestock farming.
Who cares…?
This breakthrough could revolutionize our food system by offering sustainable and affordable sources of protein.
It could also keep reduce the carbon footprint associated with meat production.
“excuse me, is the rice beefed up? -future person asking the waiter“
FDA Approves First-Ever Drug for Frostbite.
TL;DR:
The FDA has approved Aurlumyn, the first-ever drug for severe frostbite treatment in adults.
Developed by Eicos Sciences Inc., Aurlumyn uses iloprost as an active ingredient to prevent blood clotting, potentially saving patients from limb amputation.
Despite some possible side effects like headaches and nausea, the drug is deemed a safe and effective solution for frostbite.
Why does this matter…?
The way we view frostbite will be the same way we viewed scurvy or smallpox in the past.
Another checkmark on a list of man-made cures for inflictions.
“honey, don’t forget your frostbite pills before you climb mt. everest!“
Martians Wanted: NASA Opens Call for Simulated Yearlong Mars Mission.
TL;DR:
NASA is seeking volunteers for a simulated Mars mission to advance its exploration plans.
The yearlong mission, which commences in 2025, involves a four-person crew living in a 3D-printed habitat mirroring Mars conditions based at NASA’s Johnson Space Center.
Requirements include being a non-smoking U.S. citizen between 30-55 years, proficient in English, and having a background in STEM or relevant aviation experience.
And that means…?
We are finally training to become an interplanetary species, a crucial step for humanity.
Just like the moon landing in 1969, landing on Mars will provide humanity a source of technological innovation, optimism, discovery, and unity; a testament to human potential.
“it’s like ‘survivor’, but with low gravity and hopefully less backstabbing“
TECHNOLOGICAL GRATITUDE.
Today, I am grateful for…
My school teacher would say to us: "you won't be carrying a calculator all the time."
How utterly wrong, Ms. Labkovski.
But I got to thinking, what was life like before we had our modern versions?
Today's technological gratitude is: calculators. twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
